The cycle of life, decay, and rebirth is seen here in the foreground with it's fallen ponga fronds and prehistoric rocks, the rebirth in the living trees and the lush utopian green and pleasant land viewed beyond the threshold in the distance. The natural landmarks of landforms, rocks or trees are some of my facourite painting subjects. They have stood the test of time, and are sentinels, primordial and timeless. I see them as spiritual guardians, witness to what has been, reminding us of our past, and that no matter how Man tries to dominate and control the environment, Nature will always prevail. |
